Tool name * MSVPA-X

The MSVPA-X model (Multispecies Virtual Population Analysis) is a trophic dynamics model focusing on interactions between fish species within exploited communities. The primary output is time and age-variant predation mortality rates for all modeled species. Secondarily, the model allows evaluation of the impacts of changing prey availability on predator growth, population dynamics, and productivity. As with other trophic dynamics models, the primary benefit of MSVPA-X is to place fisheries exploitation within an a appropriate ecological framework. MSVPA-X is implemented with a graphical interface that allows import and management of data from multiple sources. The program is designed so that each “project file” can contain multiple configurations of both single and multispecies models and outputs from a number of different model historical and projection runs. The package is therefore designed as both an assessment and exploratory tool accessible to technical and non-technical users alike.
